Welcome to my Photography Blog

A little while ago I decided to take voluntary redundancy and as I'd always had a keen interest in photography I though I would invest my time in a Professional Photography Course.

As a qualified marketer I had always been expected to take photo's in my job as I think people make an assumption that if you are in marketing then you must be able to take photo's which isn't always the case. I had been complimented on numerous occasions on my photographic skills and was told I had an eye for photography which is good but I wanted to know more.

Following a beginner's photography course that I attended at my sons' school, one of my photo's was published in the local paper as a photo of the week which I was very proud of even though it was "just a post" according to one of my colleagues.

I was breezing along quite nicely on this course until I reached the editing module which is where I came to a standstill for quite some time. I found this module daunting and felt as though it was a whole other course on its own. After much procrastination I eventually managed to push myself  into experimenting with various editing tools and then eventually, like with driving, something just clicked and I understood what I was doing and I realised I was actually enjoying it. Don't get me wrong I'm still a novice but I can improve the look of pictures now with editing.

After doing a photo shoot with a not so happy one year old and a very happy four year old along with their mum. I can honestly say I felt very downhearted as they left because I felt that I hadn't got a decent shot. However, when I started playing around with my editing software I managed to get lots of decent ones and a few excellent ones even if I do say so myself. So while I'm still quite daunted with using the camera to its full potential at least I now know how to rescue some of those not so hot to trot pics.
Just a post!!

I am hoping to use this space to share some of my work so watch this space for some pics and you can imagine the demented woman on the other side of the camera panicking like mad.

Sincerely
